MICRO-FESTIVAL DE MARIONNETTES INACHEVÉES 2016
From June 7 to 11, 2016, Les Sages Fous presented the 10th edition of their festival dedicated to the creation of new forms of puppetry and object theater. Eleven projects from Hungary, France, the United States, and Quebec arrived in Trois-Rivières with all their equipment to present an unfinished form of puppetry and object theater.
Among the guests were Kevin Augustine of the Lone Wolf Tribe company, an influential artist from Brooklyn whose shows, with their dark humor and captivating charm, have been presented several times in New York’s most important independent theaters; Nylon Group, a young Hungarian company composed of two graduates of the University of Theatrical and Cinematic Arts Budapest, whose work pushes the boundaries of puppetry; Kate Brehm, an accomplished puppeteer from Brooklyn whose exciting work combines puppetry, performance, clowning, and intervention; the Mouka company from France, which takes the audience off the beaten track with its disconcerting use of puppets that are at once sensual and disturbing, wonderful and monstrous; David Lane, a multidisciplinary artist and frequent collaborator with the Old Trout Puppet Workshop, who will this time present a most intriguing solo work.

TRIPTEASE
Cie MOUKA (France)
An obese woman and a striptease of organs displayed by two headless coats will pique your curiosity. A fierce and ridiculous game where the bodies of the puppeteers mingle with the bodies of the puppets. Triptease invites you to lose your heads in an epic freak show.
With Claire Rosolin and Marion Gardie
THE CHRONICLES OF ROSE
David Lane (USA)
The Chronicles of Rose takes place during a turbulent period in Paris, just before and during the Nazi occupation of France. Looting artworks had become an obsession for Hitler. When the Nazis moved into the Jeu de Paume, Rose Valland, the museum’s curator, joined the French Resistance in the hope of recovering the precious masterpieces.
Rose is an exploration of the nature of greed, the effectiveness of war, cultural expression, Jewish identity, and the perseverance of the human spirit.
Starring David Lane and Krista Duke

THE POOFS
Kate Brehm (United States)
Poofs are sensitive and disconcerting creatures. Seemingly organic, they transcend our understanding of the relationship between machines and animals. A scientist seeks to understand and explain the nature of the Poof. But should we accept it? Or fear it!
HAUT BAS
Cie Mains Fortes (France)
Alpha gets up at the same time every day, takes a shower, drinks his coffee, and then takes the subway to work. One morning, Alpha doesn’t take the subway. He takes flight and embarks on a journey that takes him from the highest peaks to the ice floes, from the urban jungle to the desert oasis. Frightened, amazed, surprised, and shaken, Alpha plunges into life. Through this surreal and initiatory journey, he recounts the geography of the world and his inner journey.
A creation by Catherine Gendre, Bérénice Guénée, and Martina Menconi.

NELL & NAGG
Tenon Mortaise (Montréal)
Research and exploration of Beckett’s universe, based on the characters Nell & Nagg, Hamm, and Clov from Samuel Beckett’s play Endgame.
With Diane Loiselle and Denys Lefebvre
GIVE HANDS, GIVE PEACE
Nylon Group (Hungary)
The centerpiece of this project is a giant nylon hand measuring 2.5 meters long. This show highlights both the relationship between a giant hand puppet and the woman on stage, and the interaction between two hand puppets.
With Angéla Eke and Sándor Márkus

BODY CONCERT
Lone Wolf Tribe (United States)
Giant body parts come to life in a romantic and haunting solo puppet show, choreographed to a minimalist bittersweet piano score.
Created by Kevin Augustine of
Lone Wolf Tribe
L’AMOUR ET …
Sous la tuque (Québec)
This is the charming Oryx. She is a female mining robot dressed in a delicate white dress. The other character emerges from cryogenic sleep, soaked and in a daze. Both prisoners miles underground, victims of a tunnel collapse, they discuss love and certain themes related to sexuality today and tomorrow… then BANG!!!
With Carl Vincent and Éliott Talec

VÉLOCITÉ
Émile Foucher (Montréal)
Vélocité is an art installation that explores movement, light, and interactivity in public spaces. Using everyday objects and repurposing them (bicycle wheels, mirrors, table lamps, etc.), the installation revisits the principles of kinetic art, incorporating today’s technology (sensors and programming environment) to create visual tableaux generated by the movement of passersby.
FILM D’ANIMATION
Krista Duke (United States)
Beauty and death, age and decay are the driving forces behind this project. The old lady and her flowers are its central image. Why a pot of dead flowers? Why continue to water them when we know they will not come back to life? Their time has passed.

HOBJETS
Henri Morrissette et Rémi Francoeur (Trois-Rivières)
Hobjets is an interactive sculptural-theatrical improvisation show.
With the audience’s help, an improvisational sculptor and an improvisational actor dive into the creation of a brand new show. It is above all a show about relationships based on three key elements: the audience, the sculptor, and the puppeteer.
